Shortly after its founding, The Brandywiners chose as their motto,
"All for Fun and Fun for All." But this light-hearted
philosophy masks a philanthropic effort that also has been maintained
from the company's inception.

Following their first performance, The Brandywiners gave $1,450 to
the Mayor's Employment and Relief committee of the City of Wilmington. The Brandywiners are proud to have maintained that generous spirit for more than 75 years.
Proceeds from ticket sales for Brandywiners shows at
Longwood Gardens are used to fund a variety of arts and cultural organizations
in Delaware and southeastern Pennsylvania. More than
$660,000 have been granted by The Brandywiners, Ltd. during its
history. Typically, the grants are approved for projects and activities that
have specific expenses associated with them, rather than for general
operating expenses.

How to make a request in 2008
If you have a request
for funding in the 2008 cycle, send a letter outlining your proposal
and the amount you are requesting to:

Requests in this year's cycle must be postmarked by August 1, 2008.
A committee will review all requests in the fall, and applicants
will be notified in December, following the board's
approval at the Brandywiners' late fall business meeting.
